A Look Back at an Inspiring International Symposium !

Dévina Ung, Frédéric Laumonnier & Jean-Michel Escoffre had the great pleasure of participating in — and co-organizing — the Second Thematic Workshop on 3D Cell Models in the Loire Valley, held on 28 November 2025 at the Faculté de Pharmacie de Tours.

This international event brought together a vibrant community of researchers, clinicians, students, and innovators to explore the latest advances in #organoids, #tumoroids, and #spheroids, from foundational methodologies to translational applications.

A heartfelt thank you
We warmly thank all participants, our keynote speakers, and the many students whose enthusiasm and curiosity enriched every discussion.

Our sincere gratitude also goes to our funding bodies - Université de Tours, PIA4 LVH, ED SSBCV, ISP Lab/INRAE Val de Loire, iBraiN Inserm Lab, SFR SANEC - and institutional partners - CNRS Centre Limousin Poitou Charente, Inserm Grand Ouest, Cancéropôle Grand Ouest, Université d'Orléans, Inserm UMR1069 N2COx, BIOMAP Lab, CBM/CNRS UPR4301, GDR Organoïdes, Ouestoïd for their support, and to the entire organizing team - Laurie Lajoie, Emilie Allard-Vannier, Anne di Tommaso, Celine Ducournau, Maxime Guéguinou for their dedication and exceptional teamwork — this event would not have been possible without you.

Program Highlights
- Methodology & Technology: cutting-edge imaging approaches, advanced 3D analysis, automated high-throughput organoid screening.

- Biomedicine & Oncology: therapy resistance models, tumor–stroma interactions, vascularization strategies, innovative immuno-/oncolytic approaches.

- Neurosciences & Mental Health: brain organoids, neurodevelopmental disorder modeling, multiome technologies, evolutionary insights into cortical development.

- Infectiology & One Health: 3D liver models for malaria, gastric infection models, granuloma reconstruction, avian skin tissue modeling.

With speakers from: France, Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal, and more.

This workshop was a fantastic opportunity to connect, exchange, and push forward the boundaries of 3D cell model research.

Looking forward to continuing these inspiring collaborations !
