Overview

iBraiN's scientific objectives are to a) identify specific signatures of neuropsychiatric disorders in order to enable better patient stratification, b) better understand their underlying mechanisms, c) develop tailored therapies for these disorders, d) develop new biomarkers of these disorders and, e) develop new imaging tools enabling their assessment, using an approach that is:
  • Translational
  • Multi-scale
  • Multimodels: from cells, to mouse and humans. using in vivo and ex-vivo approach
  • Functional: We intend to advance understanding of the atypical neurophysiological mechanisms and brain networks in psychiatric disorders with the ultimate goal of developing tailored functional therapy .We investigate different levels of information processing.
  • Multimodal
  • Dynamic: We examine lifelong development, from infancy to old age in different neuropsychiatric conditions .
  • Dimensional: We pursue investigation that takes into account the high heterogeneity of neuropsychiatric disorders and adopt a comparative and dimensional approach, comparing clinical dimensions common to multiple neuropsychiatric disorders.
  • Individual.
  • Multidisciplinary: The unit is organized in four teams, each with their own approach, epistemological level and strategy.
