Ultrasound Postdoc position at Inserm TOURS
Development of digital tools for nonlinear ultrasound phenomena
Development of digital tools for nonlinear ultrasound phenomena
Outstanding candidates are invited to apply for a postdoctoral research position in the laboratory
of Imaging and Ultrasound within Inserm research Unit U930 in Tours, France
(http://www.u930.tours.inserm.fr/).
As part of an ANR research project dealing with modeling the propagation of ultrasonic waves
in biological tissues, digital tools studying nonlinear ultrasound phenomena will be developed
for imaging and therapy applications.
A first code implemented in fortran has been developed to solve the nonlinear propagation
equation of ultrasound in 3 dimensions. This code is not suitable for cases taking into account
nonlinear effects during the propagation of very high intensity ultrasound.
The tasks of the candidate are as follows:
- Adapt the code in order to make it efficient to exploit more realistic cases (case of multielement
probes and arbitrarily defined protocols).
- Take into account the variations of the acoustic parameters in the propagating tissue.
- Optimize the code in order to improve its performance, especially the calculation time. Study
the possibilities of parallelizing the code and evaluate the feasibility and relevance of an
implementation on CPGPU architecture.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in the ultrasound or related field and a background in biomedical
research is desired. Must be willing to learn and implement new technologies.
Knowledge of fluid mechanics and associated modeling is highly desired.
The candidate must also be highly motivated, have excellent written and verbal communication
skills, and enthusiasm to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
The position is for a year and renewable for additional 1 year increments thereafter. Interested
candidates should send a curriculum vita, cover letter addressing current research interests and
dates of availability, and the names and contact information for three references via email to:
