The Research Unit "Imaging and Brain" UMR Inserm930, Université François-Rabelais de Tours (Tours, France) is looking for a postdoctoral candidate experienced in neuroimaging. The position is assigned to the Team ‘Autism’ focusing on the understanding of the physiopathological mechanisms which underlie the manifestation of symptoms observed in Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).
Context of the project
ASD are characterised by major handicap in social interaction and in daily life adaptation. Physical and social adaptation typically challenges the impaired skills of these individuals with ASD, as it requires efficiently detecting and reacting to biologically important events. This orienting response towards potentially relevant events involves automatic attentional mechanisms that would be elicited mainly by two classes of biologically important stimulation: novel stimuli and emotional stimuli. The neural basis of emotional and change‐related attention in ASD will be explored by investigating brain reactivity, during visual tasks mixing emotional and non-emotional stimuli. Structural and functional connectivity of the neuronal network involved will be studied using DTI and functional connectivity analyses.
Profile
The candidate will have a PhD in Neurosciences with prior interest in neuropsychiatric disorders and a solid background in fMRI. Profound knowledge of relevant software tools and programming skills are mandatory. He/she will be involved in experiments with healthy subjects/persons with ASD and will analyze the corresponding data (functional connectivity and DTI analyses).
Position
Start: January 2015 Duration: 15 months
Financing: ANR (National Research Agency). Salary will follow INSERM standard rule for contractual post-doctoral positions.
