Helmet Karim is an assistant professor of Psychiatry and Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh. He received his bachelor’s in biology and theoretical mathematics in 2012 and subsequently his PhD in bioengineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 2017. He is currently on a mentored career development award (K01) from the NIMH that focuses on using machine learning for treatment response prediction in individuals treated for depression using transcranial magnetic stimulation. He also has conducted research in accelerated aging in the context of Alzheimer’s disease, late-life depression, and anxiety in addition to his work in treatment response prediction. More broadly, his research focuses on developing computational approaches to improve diagnostics, treatments, and management of various psychiatric disorders. https://gpn.pitt.edu/
